I guess the truth of the title of this post all depends on who you ask and in my opinion it is true.
I wrote about Osheaga a couple weeks ago and shared a quick video of Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lions performance at the festival which you can see HERE.
For the past couple of years I had heard of different friends going to the festival and saying it was the best they had ever been too, so when the opportunity arose for me to go this summer I hoped on a quick 1 hour 30 minute flight from Halifax to Montreal. Due to work conflicts I only had two days to enjoy this three day festival and Montreal but I can honestly say they were some of the best two days of my whole summer.
Even though I have lived fairly close to Montreal my whole life it is never a place that I have visited until recent years. It is a city that you can quickly fall in love with if not for its old European architecture and charm then perhaps its food, glorious food then for of course having wicked concerts like Osheaga and even Pop Montreal (which I’ve heard is also a must see/do in the fall.).
The following is a photo essay from my recent visit:
The beginning of August had some fantastic weather and it was nice that there were cooling off stations like this one throughout the festival grounds.
It was so dry the first todays the ground turned to dust and you could taste it in your mouth.
The awesome Feist rocking out, gotta love that lady.
(I once drove her to her hotel from an interview but thats a story for a different time.)
And more Feist, I love the blue colour coming from the stage.
A little red Feist with some of the massive crowd.
A screen shot from some video footage I shot.
Hanging out on the fake grass with my dirty concert feet in the VIP section, loving life.
The man Snoop Lion takes the stage.
And there isn’t a trip to Montreal with out a Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich…
A delicious poutine…
and a few dozen bagels that you hope will last the 90minute plane ride home…
Do you have a favourite music festival in North America? Perhaps you are partial to Coachella or something else? Tell me about it , prove me wrong that Osheaga isn’t the greatest. Even if you miss Osheaga you should definitely visit Montreal to enjoy the million other awesome things it has to offer.
The majority of these photographs were taken with my Nikon D5100.
Thanks to Montreal Tourism and Quebec Tourism for bringing me to Montreal for Osheaga, all opinions expressed are my own.
