I have written about the famous La Tomatina, tomato food fight festival more than once and I am now happy to share my video experience of La Tomatina with all of you. Following the release of my Barcelona and Valencia, Spain video last week I bring you “La Tomatina, Tomato Food Fight in Bunol, Spain – Who? What? When? Where?” .
This is my newest video made in co-operation with Ocean Entertainment (read more about that here) and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Click play to watch me get covered in Tomato juice and cross another awesome item off the big bucket list that is life. Whether you decide to visit La Tomatina while backpacking Europe with your guide book or joining in on a group tour I think my video will definitely help you plan and show you just how awesome it is.
I hope you enjoy it, stay tuned for more and enter your email below to sign up for the **new** Travel Yourself monthly newsletter while you are at it.

[...] tasty Lobster Gazpacho. When those two words crossed his lips I was beyond excited. Ever since my first trip to Spain in 2009 I have been in love with Gazpacho and being an atlantic Canadian lobster runs through my veins and [...]
Just watched it, nice work & good luck at the Nomading Film Festival.
My gosh! This looks like so much fun! Great job on the video
Nice video – that looks like so much fun!
It’s wild to see people jump into the tomatoes just as soon as the gates on the truck open up.
Thanks Don!
It looks so dangerous doesn’t it? I didn’t get that close myself. I think it is kind of a thing you need to experience twice. Once to see what its like and the second to get right in there.
What a fantastic video! I really had fun and felt the energy of the event.. Glad I stumbled on your travel blog!
Thanks for the comments Will!
[...] I went to Spain to film the first episode of my own travel show in 2009, I stayed at my first hostel ever. I loved that hostel and from then on I pretty much loved [...]
Great video! I can’t wait to attend La Tomatina this summer! I’ve already got a place booked in Valencia. Are there public showers in Bunol or do you have to ride the train back a mess??
Thanks Nick! There are public showers in the streets, also the locals will hose you down and there is a river you can jump in too

Not that I would ever need an excuse for a food fight but this looks like an incredible event.
I’m actually surprised this isn’t something that you have done already Samuel!
Awesome video! I think I might have to add this to the bucket list. I’d be pretty worried about that tomato truck running me over though!
thanks for the comment!
No one has ever been run over in 50+ years or at least thats what I’ve discovered from my research
No need to worry about getting run over, I thought about that too but each truck has like 12 guys walking around it making sure you aren’t in the way
Wow! Looks messy and fun. Hope you had a blast!
Thanks Brock! It was pretty great
Impressive video Calin. I wonder how the heck you got all of those shots/angles…you must have had help?
Cheers,
Mike
Hey Mike, For the two Spain videos I did actually have a camera man with me following me around 24/7 for a whole week. However a lot of luck was had on that trip as well for ransoming meeting Serano and him letting us film from his roof top.
Glad you liked it!
It sure looks like a whole big but fun mess. Everyone seemed to have had a blast. Great video!
Thanks Alexa! It was a pretty great time!!
