I’ve been thinking about Berlin a lot this week since I’ve been editing a video about my time there last November and while editing the video I relived my first experience of eating currywurst. You can see the video HERE and watch me try to eat currywurst.

All of my Berliner friends and friends who lived in Berlin told me that one of my most important tasks when visiting was to try currywurst. Currywurst is basically a bratwurst sliced up, with curry and spice sprinkled over it and some spicy gravy type sauce. Sounded interesting….

Luckily for me it was November and the Christmas Markets had just started up so Currywurst was pretty easy to find.

I ordered mine with a nice big Berliner beer as back up to wash away the taste if it wasn’t something I was fond of. I found a table  to myself and took my first bite. I wasn’t in love, but similar to my first feeling about Berlin I didn’t hate it either. I didn’t swoon over it or crave it like my friends however I could see how tasty this might be after a late night out on the town.

Currywurst with fries! Its everywhere!

An estimated 800 million servings of currywurst are sold in Berlin each year… Crazy – to read more about it check out this article.

Would you try currywurst? Have you? Let me know what you think about it in the comments.

You can even buy it at the airport before you leave Berlin!
