Grown-up Grilled Cheese in Baltimore, Maryland

The following is a guest post by Rease Kirchner of  , Indecisive

You might think grilled cheese is just something you eat when you are running low on groceries, but when done right, a grilled cheese can be an incredibly delicious meal. If you find yourself in Maryland, you need to stop by one of the four Grilled Cheese & Co locations and get yourself a specialty grilled cheese.

Grilled Cheese & Co offers 11 different varieties of grilled cheese on a regular basis: The original, BCT, Kickin’ BBQ Chicken, Crabby Melt, The Fresco, Sarducci, Blue Ox, Cordon Bleu, Veggie Delight, Sweetest Thing, and Smashed Meatball.

If you’re looking for something that represents the local cuisine, you’ll want to go with the Crabby Melt, which is made with Monterey jack cheese melted on top of their homemade crab dip (made with fresh Maryland crab) and loaded up with crab claw meat.

If you’re not into seafood, I recommend the Kickin’ BBQ Chicken. This slightly spicier sandwich includes pepper jack cheese, grilled chicken, and diced red onions all topped off with a sweet BBQ sauce.

For the vegetarians that crave more than cheese, the Veggie Delight is a perfect choice. The sandwich is made with havarti cheese and a variety of roasted vegetables with an olive tapenade with a finishing touch of rosemary black pepper aioli. Talk about a fancy grilled cheese!

Grilled Cheese & Co does not neglect those of you with a sweet tooth, either. The Sweetest Thing is made with brie and mascarpone cheese, blended raspberry preserves and chocolate chips. This dessert sandwich is so decadent that even the employees recommend sharing it with someone to avoid a sugar overload.

The prices range from $4.99-$7.99 per sandwich. You can also add a side of fries for only $2.49 or upgrade to sweet potato fries for $3.49. If you want to keep your bill even lower, you can opt for UTZ potato chips instead for only 99 cents. So if you are planning a trip to the Baltimore area, make sure you stop by a Grilled Cheese & Co for a cheap and delicious meal.

It’s been years since I’ve had or even thought about a grilled cheese sandwich, and this post has made me want one immediately. I would go straight for their speciality, the crabby melt!
