A fountain in Rome – Photo of the day

italian fountain

A fountain found outside of the Pantheon in Rome, Italy. Called of course Fontana del Pantheon it was constructed in 1575 and is made out of marble featuring a 6 sided obelisk. The original marble pieces of the fountain were placed in a museum in 1886 with replicas taking their place. I liked this close up shot because the side statues are kind of creepy.

Do you like ancient fountains?

Great shot! The trevi has always been my favourite. I’ve never seen any fountain so massive and full of intricate detail before.
