A Newfoundland Language Lesson with Mark Critch and Candice Walsh

I’ve visited Newfoundland twice and still can’t quite grasp this accent / language of theirs. On my last trip I asked two friends of mine Mark Critch a famous Canadian Comedian and Actor known for his hilarious portrayal of various Canadian Politicians and other characters on the TV show This Hour Has 22 Minutes and famous Newfoundlander and Travel Blogger Candice Walsh of www.CandiceDoesTheWorld.com.

I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more new videos from Travel Yourself!

Sounds like a mix of Irish and Scottish. Can’t wait to get out there and practise my own unique accent on Canadians.

    @ Corbin I’m glad you enjoyed it ! :)

@Alouise I didn’t realize either but its pretty cool to learn about it :)

@Ciara it does sound slightly irish but I can tell you it sounds like its own language too and I could pick it out of a crowd any where :)

@Eric glad we could entertain! :)

@Jennifer it is the kind of video you have to listen to at least twice hahaha I imagine Glasgow would be even harder to understand!

@Abby She was starstuck I tell you! :) next time we meet up I will try to teach you a bit! haha

I gotta admit I could only understand about a third of what was said in the beginning. Hilarious video. I didn’t know there were so many variations of the Newfoundland accent.
