Cyprus has surprised me in many ways, including food. I often heard about Turkish Delights but was never interested in trying them… maybe because I was meant to have this culinary encounter in a very special way: visiting a Cyprus Delights factory in Geroskipou, Cyprus.
These colorful sweets, also called Loukoumi, were invented in the 15th century for the joy of sultans, and are still produced manually in small family run factories. I am sure the taste is still similar to the original one, even if today there are more than 30 different flavors while back then there were only rosewater and bergamot loukoumi.
They are incredibly delicate and sweet, in addition to being an irresistibly pleasant sight.

April 7, 2016 at 4:19 pmI just traveled to Cyprus and brought home to the Philippines these sweets without knowing how they really tasted like. It turns out my daughter loves them so much! I did too. Now I wish I know where I can get these here back home.
