The Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa by Marriott sits on Florida’s South West Coast and is quickly reachable by flying into Florida’s Fort Meyers airport. This hotel was the first of three that I visited on a recent trip to the sunshine state and right away it gave the others a lot to live up to.
Upon arriving I was whisked off to my Spa appointment at the hotels very own Spa on location. There I was treated to three lovely treatments that really helped my relax after half a day of flying. The first thing was a Sound Therapy session also known as BETAR Vibroacoustic Focused Sound Therapy Systems one of 16 in the world. When the door was first opened to the room I was a bit quizzical as to what was about to happen. In front of my was a half dome built with metal pipes and hanging from the middle of it was a bed. Was this some kind of weird Fifty Shades of Grey spa? I was told that it was very peaceful and relaxing and all I was to do was lay still on the hanging bed for roughly 20 minutes. As I did music and sounds came from at least 5 speakers that were hanging from the sky while other speakers under the bed sent their base booms into my vertebrae. The ceiling and walls were painted with glow in the dark paint like the galaxy with a Caloosa type guy making gestures like he was calling to the heavens. It was interesting to say the least…haha Check out this vine so you can kind of see what I’m talking about.
Later that evening I was scheduled to have dinner at the hotels Courtside Steakhouse. Little did I know my life was about to be changed forever. I perused the menu and everything looked great, just before the server took my order he told me about the evenings specials. As soon as the words “truffle rubbed steak” came out of his mouth I was sold. I didn’t ask the price and it didn’t register to me what size it was. What was served to me was the most drool worthy beautiful piece of 16oz steak I have ever eaten. In fact it was so good I wrote a poem about it. Visit thetasteoftravel.com to read.
As you can see in the video above my room was very large and spacious and of course was really nice. My favorite part as most always was of course the view. Looking right out over the ocean and nearby islands this hotel is home to some spectacular sunset views and I bet the sunrises were great too.
Aside from the Courtside Steakhouse there were a couple of other places on property to eat at including a cafe and the Tarpon House serving 3 meals a day including a tasty buffet breakfast. You even have the opportunity to take a dinner cruise on the hotels very own 100foot yacht.
A great place to stay for all ages, I didn’t want to leave my comfy bed. The only caution I give you is to watch out for the
“noseeum” bugs known as a pesky warm weather bug that come out around dawn and dusk. They are smaller than a blackfly and give the itchiest bites. They followed me everywhere I went in Florida but luckily I had some After Bite gel with me.
My time at the Sanibel was provided to my by the hotel and Diamond PR. As always all views and opinions expressed are my own. As is the tastiest steak of my LIFE!
