The Florida Keys are full of tasty key lime pie, lots of six toed cats, and many turtles with bubble butts. It is also a lovely destination full of hotels and resorts new and old. The Amara Cay Resort in Islamorada falls into the new category and is a sleek and modernly designed property right in the middle of the keys.
The small property has friendly staff, a great pool, beach, tiki bar and Italian restaurant with some great eats. To learn more about the property enjoy my pictures below or watch the video attached.
My room featured a double sized bed and comfy couch to lounge on. The fish traps for light shades were a nice detail.
The room was spacious, clean and white.
The art work at the desk area brought I nice pop of colour into the room. I loved the grey stained wood floors. Also a bonus, water in a box!
The bathroom was modern with an awesome shower head (very important) and I think I was most excited about the toothbrush holder. You never see hotels with toothbrush holders. Why not?
My room was on one of the top floors with a great view of the pool, Sparrows Rum Bar and beach. There was also a hot tub hidden inside the hut on the left.
A nice large pool with was heated. Bonus!
The Sparrows Rum Bar with pool side service, tropical rum drinks and food.
An inviting hammock on the beach rain or shine.
The main level of the hotel off of the lobby had a couple different lounge areas, including this one off of the side of the dining room.
The dinning room of Cecina Italiana, Oltremare Ristorante, the Italian restaurant on property.
A tasty dish of seafood orecchiette pasta with scallop, rich shrimp and parmesan tomato sauce.
The Oltremare Bar, a great place for a wine or cocktail.
The seating area for the main part of the lobby. Gotta love a nice hanging egg chair.
Located almost right in the middle of the Florida Keys in Islamorada the Amara Cay resort is a great jumping off point for you adventures around the Florida Keys. Of the hotels that I stayed in while touring around the Amara was definitely my favourite and I would stay here again and again.
