I’m not one to toot my own horn that often, but 2011 has been a fantastic year for myself and for creating awesome travel videos. Below are a few that I hope you have enjoyed watching almost as much as I have had traveling and making them. 2012 is shaping up to be a big year starting with a new logo and redesign of the site and a whole lot more it should be very exciting. I hope you come along for the ride. Enjoy the videos again and stay tuned. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and all that other stuff.

I probably spent the most time just arranging to have this video made than any other. It was fueled by my love and passion for travel and I don’t think it itself has been given enough love. I bring you “For the Love of Travel“.
In 2011 I completed a trip that I had been wanting to do for quite some time, I traveled across Canada by train and car and have now visited every province in the country and I did it with a great friend of mine. The final video from this trip is still in the works but or now I bring you “Cailin and Candice’s Cross Canada Adventure“.
I was really surprised by this video. The idea for it was silly and fun, shot in poor lighting with my shaky camera hands I sat Candice down with my friend and Canadian celebrity/actor/comedian Mark Critch and had them speak “Newfenese” to each other aka talk like stereotypical Newfoundlanders talk. To date this video is my most successful video made with 23,000+ views. I bring you “A Newfoundland Language Lesson“.

2011 was also exciting because it was the first year ever for the Nomading Film Festival an amazing film festival for travel films. I submitted and my film was selected in the top 11 videos of 100+ submissions. Lets just say I was a little more than excited and definitely made sure I was in New York to see my film premiere. Also in 2011 I was asked to be one of the official ambassadors aka Noffbassadors for the festival which I gladly accepted. Oh and this video was filmed in Iceland a place I had always dreamed about visiting and this video stands as being one of my favorite videos of all time. I bring you “Travel Yourself does Iceland“.

This year I also started a “consistent” series with my videos which I call “Cities in a Minute”. I made the first one on a whim, people liked it so I kept making more and they seem to keep getting better and better. Now a days people’s attention spans are unfortunately getting smaller and smaller and I figured the quicker I could reel someone in but teach/show them a lot of information about a place as quick as possible the better. Voila. Stay tuned for many more like this to come. I bring you “San Francisco in a Minute“, “Paris in a Minute” and “London in a Minute“.
I hope you enjoyed! Please share with your friends. ~CailinI wrote this post as part of the “Best of Travel 2011” series started by Jeremy at BudgetTravelAdventures.com , please share it on twitter using the #BestTravel2011 hashtag. To read the rules of the best of series and/or to join in please click HERE. As part of the series I now have to tag five other travelers to join in. I nominate Benjamin Jenks, Mike Corey, Steve Miller, Mehdy Ghannad and Nathan and Sofia. You might see I bent the rules slightly but basically just share your top 7 favorite travel videos that you have made in 2011

December 22, 2011 at 9:41 amHey Cailin,
Firstly thx for sharing your travels and I think “London in a Minute travel video” is my favorite and that’s pretty strange since I’m not a big fan of London, far to crowed for my taste but your video makes me want to go :)
I hope you’re having a blast over the holidays.
Ciao, Poul
