Friday Food Photos – Green Beer

This lovely photo of green beer overlooking Chicago was brought to you by Shanna Quinn

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Well it is just a day away but I’m Irish so that gives me the right to celebrate it any day I want to. Right?

Ok well, my fathers, fathers, father was from Ireland or something…. and my grandmother was a Murphy and my last name is O’Neil and my first name is Cailin and the actual translation of my full name Cailin O’Neil is “Girl son of Neil” slightly confusing but you get the point, unless I’m Colm Hanratty I probably can’t be more Irish for a Canadian.

St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year especially because people don’t look at me funny for drinking before noon. I myself have never personally had a green beer, but many a beer slides down my throat on this celebratory day each year while I dawn my greenish clothes and maybe chug one in your face. See photo below.

Don’t judge me.

Through my internet research I see that no one is quite sure where the green beer tradition started, but it was most likely an American invention espcially because Guiness is a common drink for the Irish and I doubt that turns green all that easily. I’m not sure what St. Patrick’s Day has in store for me this year, but maybe I will drink my first green beer!

What are your St. Patrick’s Day plans? Are you a fan of green beer?

If you find yourself drinking some this weekend take a photo and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #ttotfood and I’ll post it here next week!

Slàinte mhath! Enjoy the weekend and don’t drink and drive!

Stay away from the green beer, you will regret it the next morning.
